John Burgess Photography offers a relaxed, story book style wedding photography. For the majority of the day we prefer to be an inconspicuous fly on the wall, allowing the mood and enjoyment of the day to flow naturally while capturing the moments as they happen. At other times we emphasise the significance of the day with elegant and romantic wedding portraiture.
We shoot from different perspectives, positions and locations to enable us to catch each fleeting moment, each hug and kiss, the smiles, laughter and the tears, be it from the Bride and Groom, their wedding party or the family and guests. In a nutshell, we don’t just photograph an event, we tell the story of the celebration of a very special occasion.
And yes, having covered weddings in such regions as the Hunter Valley, the Riverina District and the Mid North Coast, we're certainly happy to travel well outside our region as well as the local Narrabri Shire and surrounding North West areas.
This is normally at the time of booking. We will listen to you outline your plans and personal requirements so we can provide advice to assist with planning, logistics, schedules and formal shoot locations to give you peace of mind and help your day run as smoothly as possible.
Planning & Preparation
We don't believe in simply turning up on the day and leaving things to 'chance' so our preparation is thorough. For preview and planning purposes our photographers will inspect the ceremony venue, the reception venue and the pre-chosen formal photography location/s. If the client is planning a ceremony rehearsal we may choose to attend to familiarise ourselves with the program of the chosen ceremony.
You will be contacted close to the wedding date to iron out any remaining details and again a few days before the wedding to check in with you and ensure there have been no last minute alterations. If required, you are welcome to have a chat at any stage.
Complimentary Pre-Wedding Engagement Session
We will conduct a pre wedding/engagement photographic session with you prior to the wedding on a date and at a location agreed to in discussions at the time of booking. This allows yourself and the photographer to feel comfortable with each other prior to the wedding, enabling the wedding day to run as smoothly as possible. You will receive edited, full resolution images of this session, giving the added advantage of quality images to use for invitations, wedding day presentations etc.
Wedding Day Schedule
The photography begins several hours before the wedding ceremony. We generally start with our photographer joining yourself and your bridal party with the hair stylist, the make-up artist and the nervous chat throughout the preparations for your big day ahead.
We will also arrange time in the schedule to spend with the groom and his assistants to capture the banter as they ready themselves prior to their departure for the ceremony venue. In both cases we will again be a fly on the wall, recording what comes naturally.
Actually, we seriously prefer to be totally ignored and simply let you be yourself. We will then leave for the ceremony venue to prepare for your arrival and catch the groom and his attendants while they anxiously wait, anticipating your entrance.
The wedding ceremony will be shot in a discreet, photo journalistic, candid style. We won’t stop you for photos as you get out of the car or ask you to look at the camera at any stage. We will just let it all happen naturally and once again we prefer that you forget we’re around.
We will capture you walking down the aisle, the look on your Groom’s face as he watches you enter and of course, the placing of the rings, the first kiss and the signing of the Marriage Certificate. And after the ceremony we will capture all the tears, laughter, hugs and kisses as everyone congratulates you and then capture family photographs at the ceremony location.
Following the ceremony and family photos we will leave with the wedding party for photographs at your predetermined location or locations. This is when most of the previously mentioned elegant and romantic images will be shot, with a healthy dose of fun and humour to boot. We’ll now give you a little direction to help you out and capture everyone enjoying each others company.
Following the location shoot we will leave a little before the bridal party to prepare for your arrival at the reception venue. Once again, the reception will be shot in a candid and discreet style from the time of your arrival through to the speeches and toasts, the bridal waltz, throwing of the bouquet and all the enjoyment in between. And during informal periods, we will move around the venue capturing your guests enjoying the occasion.
Within approximately 2 weeks (a week is the average) following the wedding you will receive your edited images in both full resolution and reduced web/email/facebook size files in Jpeg format copied to an elegantly packaged USB thumb drive.
The image files are yours to print as many copies and in any size you wish for yourself, family and friends. You will also receive a personal website wedding gallery to show off your day to anyone you please. The gallery will remain on the website for a minimum of 12 months and may be password protected if privacy is preferred.
And if you decide to include one of our exquisite, hand crafted Queensberry Wedding Abums or photo books in your package, you will receive this approximately one month following your wedding.
When Should You Book Your Wedding?
As soon as possible. The prime wedding seasons of spring and autumn are busy months and quickly booked out, so it's advisable to book as soon as you have a confirmed wedding date so we can book the date exclusively for you. Both the mid winter and summer months are less congested. We would love to hear from you and discuss your plans, so if you would like further information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
